The Sassy Golf Story

Sassy Golf was born out of one busy novice golfer’s desire to hone her skills in a fun, positive, and nonthreatening way—on her own timetable.

Frustrated with the rigid requirements and schedules of typical women’s golf leagues, and not having enough people to golf with, Sassy Golf founder Nancy Collins thought, “There must be other women out there who want to play golf and don’t have anyone to play with either. Why does this have to be so complicated? Let’s get out in this glorious weather and play a few holes.”

That simple idea evolved into a full-fledged “league of our own,” founded in 2008, offering women an avenue to play and learn the game of golf in a social setting, at great value and with tons of variety.

Sassy Golf caters to women who want to learn how to play golf for the first time or who have a love for the game but can’t commit to a set schedule because of their work, family, or personal commitments. The league helps women learn the fundamentals of golf, play at multiple golf courses, become comfortable in any golf setting, and expand their social horizons all at the same time.

In 2024, Bobbi Mastalka took over Sassy Golf, continuing the mission of making sure every person who comes into contact with the league feels comfortable and welcome, recognizing that golf is a challenging sport to learn. Sassy Golf strives to ensure that each event is unique and that members are treated as if they are guests in someone’s home. The goal is for everyone to be happy, at ease, able to unwind after a long day, and enjoy the game of golf.

FOR THE NEW AND BEGINNER GOLFER

• Players are grouped with others who have the same ability to learn at the same pace
• There is no pressure from others in the group to win or get a certain score
• Lessons are available before each date so the players learn from certified professionals
• Golfers have the opportunity to practice at the driving range at each course

• Beginners are introduced to a number of golf courses so they can enjoy the variety of the venues where the sport is played throughout the area
